Particularly engaged in weaving, sewing, papermaking, working with clay, coiling, knitting, and drawing, I am an artist constantly yearning for labor intensive techniques and experimentation. As I create, I look to the human form on how it interacts with the work and the shadows the form produces.
During undergraduate studies, I began to research matters of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch through my work. Plastic is permanently fused into the environment and yet many of these discarded materials containing plastic seem to be waiting for a new purpose or place to be a part of. The body of work "Das Meer" is a glimpse of how plastic already is and becoming more and more a part of our environment. Can this be natural?
