Carnegie Library, Syracuse University
April 28 - May 16, 2011
Surrounding "Das Meer" are vessels reflecting the effects of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and plastic permanently integrated in our lives. Carnegie Library also served as a vessel toward finding a solution.
A water jug that cannot hold water, the albatross' feathers drawn with a bottle cap, cloth woven from plastic bags, cotton paper pulp, and discarded acrylic yarn, bottles ingrained in paper pulp from cotton t-shirts, and a vase with a bottom of woven plastic bags...
A special thank you to everyone who helped make this exhibit possible: Sarah Saulson, Anne Cofer, Mary Giehl, Tim Westbrook, Allison Thurnherr, Phillip Evans, Alex Biegler, Sarah Wilson, Kelly Cave, Jessie Zehr, Joel Weissman, Casey Landerkin, Mary DeCarlo, Pat O'Malley, Zach Dunn, Rolf Sandberg, and Matthias Gröne.
